A Tight Three-parameter Correlation and Related Classification on Gamma-Ray Bursts

چکیده
Abstract Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are widely believed to be from massive collapsars and/or compact binary mergers, which, accordingly, would generate long and short GRBs, respectively. The details on this classification scheme have been in constant debate given more observational data available us. In work, we apply a series of mining methods studying the potential information contained prompt emission GRBs detected by Fermi Burst Monitor. A tight global correlation is found between fluence ( f ), peak flux F duration T 90 ) which takes form log f = 0.75 T 90 + 0.92 F − 7.14 . Based correlation, can define new parameter $L=1.66\,\mathrm{log}\,{T}_{90}+0.84\mathrm{log}\,f-0.46\mathrm{log}F+3.24$?> L 1.66 0.84 0.46 3.24 linear discriminant analysis that distinguish with much less ambiguity than We also discussed three subclasses GRB derived clusters based Gaussian mixture model, suggest that, besides SGRBs, LGRBs may divided into long-bright gamma-ray (LBGRBs) long-faint (LFGRBs), LBGRBs statistical higher LFGRBs; further number pulses LFGRBs.

Discovery of a tight correlation among the prompt emission properties of long Gamma Ray Bursts
We report the discovery of a correlation among three prompt emission properties of Gamma Ray Bursts. These are the isotropic peak luminosity Liso, the peak energy (in νLν) of the time–integrated prompt emission spectrum Epk, and the “high signal” timescale T0.45, previously used to characterize the variability behavior of bursts. In the rest frame of the source the found correlation reads Liso ...
متن کاملGamma-Ray Bursts and Related Phenomena
Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have puzzled astronomers since their accidental discovery in the sixties. The BATSE detector on the COMPTON-GRO satellite has been detecting one burst per day for the last six years. Its findings have revolutionized our ideas about the nature of these objects. They have shown that GRBs are at cosmological distances. This idea was accepted with difficulties at first. Howe...

متن کاملClassification of Swift’s gamma-ray bursts
Context. Two classes of gamma-ray bursts have been identified in the BATSE catalogs characterized by durations shorter and longer than about 2 s. There are, however, some indications for the existence of a third class. Swift satellite detectors have different spectral sensitivity than pre-Swift ones for gamma-ray bursts. Therefore we reanalyze the durations and their distribution and also the c...
متن کاملClassification of BeppoSAX’s Gamma-Ray Bursts
The BeppoSAX Catalog has been very recently published. In this paper we analyze using the Maximum Likelihood (ML) method the duration distribution of the 1003 GRBs listed in the catalog with duration. The ML method can identify the long and the intermediate duration groups. The short population of the bursts is identified only at a 96% significance level. MC simulation has been also applied and...
